KING JAMES
FEBRUARY 22, 2024 - MARCH 16, 2024
by RAJIV JOSEPH
directed by PHILIP KERSHAW
Sports: for some, a trivial diversion; for many others, a way to perceive and experience something greater than ourselves. An opportunity to break away from the ordinary and catch a glimpse of the extraordinary and transcendent, even if only in forty-eight-minute increments. Over a ten-year span, for two friends, it becomes a means to articulate everything they would otherwise be unable to express. Shawn and Matt’s lives, from tragedy to triumph and everything in between, are narrated through the lens of LeBron James’ career milestones in Rajiv Joseph’s poignant story of friendship and the profound meanings inherent in a time-honored American pastime (Yes, we know it was invented by a Canadian).
